Cienna Benn
Cienna Benn is a graduating Africana Studies and Sociology double major at Howard University. Her research explores the development of Black aesthetic theory and its disciplinary logics practiced by Black photographers and filmmakers during social movements and initiatives throughout the twentieth century. She will expand her research within the field of visual studies as a PhD student at the University of California, Irvine.
Ivanna Berrios
Ivanna Berríos is a senior in Comparative Literature concentrating in globalization and minoring in Art History at Penn. As a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow, she researches critical artistic production in the Americas grounded in decolonial thought. She is also a Wolf Humanities Center fellow, and will be starting her PhD in the fall.
Jean Chapiro
Jean Chapiro is a senior studying Communication, Visual Studies, and Cinema Studies. Originally from Mexico City, Jean is an aspiring film and television director/producer. In her work, she is interested in exploring themes such as experiences of embodiment, encounters, transnationality, and modern myths through fiction and non-fiction narratives.
Jessica Grider
Jessi Grider is a student researcher and journalist from Howard University who aims to become a multimedia storyteller with a concentration in hard news. She previously interned with the BBC and Fox News and will be an ABC News production intern this summer. Jessi enjoys curating facts, consulting experts and discovering greater meaning during her research as she produces unique stories to share with her audience.
Martin Leet
Martin Leet is South Sudanese and a senior at the University of Pennsylvania. Martin studies Design with a special focus on animation and film at the School of Arts and Sciences. He believes that self-reflection is important for the progress of our society and that visual art, especially film and cinema is the best tool for the job.
Tatiana Swain
Tatiana Swain is and Howard University Alumna and a CAMRA Mellon Fellow at The University of Pennsylvania. Her research interests include media relations in race, ethnicity, and gender within the news industry. She currently works at Fox News and ultimately plans to produce shows featuring her own content.
